Written for Synergy 3 (v3.8.4) and Synergy 1 (v1.22.3), checked 20 October 2026.
Operating system: Windows, macOS, and Linux
When Synergy 1 or Synergy 3 shows an error message box, please send us the error it shows. The box looks different in each app, so the steps are in a section for each: Synergy 3 or Synergy 1
Synergy 3
Click the Copy button
When Synergy 3 shows an error message box, please click the Copy button and then send the copied text to us in a support ticket: Contacting our support team
Please paste all of the copied text. When Synergy 3 sent us an error report, the text starts with Sentry event ID:, which lets us find that exact report. After you click Copy, Synergy 3 offers Open a ticket, which opens our contact page.
Please attach a diagnostic report from that computer too: Getting diagnostic info and logs
Not only will this help us to fix your problem, but it'll help us to improve our app for future versions.
Under Sorry, something went wrong., the box says which part of Synergy 3 had the problem:
- "There was a problem with the GUI back-end."
- "There was a problem with the GUI front-end."
- "There was a problem originating from the local background service."
- "There was a problem communicating with the local background service."
- "An error occurred in the Core process." (shown only when Show Core error messages is on in Troubleshooting)
Dismiss closes the box. Exit closes the Synergy 3 window, the same as Exit in its app menu.
Hint: If you're technical, you might also be able to understand and fix the problem by reading the copied text.
Turning off error reporting
You may notice "Error report sent successfully." in the error message box if you have error reporting turned on. You choose this when you first start Synergy 3 (Report diagnostics to help improve this product), and you can turn it off at any time. With it off, the box says "No error report was sent (setting disabled)."
To turn it off, switch off Send error and diagnostic reports in Troubleshooting, under Advanced in the sidebar. More about that setting: Log and troubleshooting settings in Synergy 3
Ignore this particular error
If the error seems to have no negative side effects, but it's causing distraction, click the Ignore button when the error message box appears.
The error comes back the next time you start Synergy 3.
Turn off the errors completely
To stop error message boxes from showing at all, click the Ignore all button when one appears. This ignores all errors until you turn them back on again.
To turn errors back on, switch on Show critical error messages in Troubleshooting, under Advanced in the sidebar: Log and troubleshooting settings in Synergy 3
Synergy 1
When Synergy 1 shows Sorry, a critical error has occurred., copy the error in the box, or take a screenshot of it, and send it to our support team: Contacting our support team
Please send your log from that computer too: Getting diagnostic info and logs
Synergy 1 doesn't send error reports to us by itself, so what you send is how we find out. The box is titled Synergy fatal error and asks you to report a bug and copy/paste the following error, followed by your version of Synergy 1 and the error.
Click OK to carry on, or Ignore to stop that same error appearing again until Synergy 1 restarts.
If the box says Sorry, a fatal error has occurred and the application must now exit., Synergy 1 closes after you click Abort; open it again.
