Written for Synergy 3 (v3.7.2) and Synergy 1 (v1.21.4), checked 3 October 2026.
Synergy 1 and Synergy 3 support computers with several monitors. Each computer's monitors count as one big screen, so the mouse moves to another computer at the outer edges of that computer's whole monitor arrangement. Most arrangements work as they are; the sections below cover the ones that need a little setup.
Supported monitor arrangements
Uniform arrangements
As long as each computer's monitors are symmetrical (2x2, 4x4) or linear (2x1, 3x1, 4x1), Synergy 1 and Synergy 3 recognize them as one large screen, and the mouse movement between computers is seamless. Arrange the computers in Screen layout (Synergy 3) or Configure Server (Synergy 1).
Non-uniform arrangements
If your monitors are positioned at different heights, or they are of different sizes and you only want them to switch in specific areas:
- Synergy 3: in Screen layout, drag each computer's screen into position and drag its edges or corners to resize it.
- Synergy 1: use a text config file with edge ranges; the steps are below.
Sandwich arrangements
When one computer's monitors sit on both sides of another computer's monitor, use a screen wrap. For the steps, see: Creating a screen wrapping configuration
Unsupported monitor arrangements
Interlaced arrangements
Monitors from different computers interlaced with each other, beyond the sandwich arrangement above, aren't supported.
Set up a non-uniform arrangement in Synergy 1
The grid in Configure Server can't make this kind of arrangement, so it needs a text config file. If you need help creating one, contact our support team.
For example, with Computer1 above Computer2 and Computer3, where the left half of Computer1's bottom edge leads to Computer2 and the right half leads to Computer3, the section: links of the config is:
section: links
Computer1:
down(0,50) = Computer2(0,100)
down(50,100) = Computer3(0,100)
Computer2:
up(0,100) = Computer1(0,50)
right(0,100) = Computer3(0,100)
Computer3:
up(0,100) = Computer1(50,100)
left(0,100) = Computer2(0,100)
end
For how ranges work and how to load the file, see: Creating and using text config files
