Written for Synergy 3 (v3.7.2), checked 3 October 2026.
Product: Synergy 3
Operating system: Fedora
Update to the latest Synergy 3, and if you added exclude=synergy to stop the downgrade, remove it. Current Synergy 3 packages for Fedora are marked as newer than the synergy package in Fedora's own repositories, so Fedora updates no longer replace Synergy 3.
Older Synergy 3 packages didn't have this mark, so Fedora treated them as older than its own package and replaced or removed Synergy 3 when updating.
If Synergy 3 has already been downgraded or removed
- Remove the version that replaced it:
sudo dnf remove synergy
- Download the latest Synergy 3 for Fedora from the download page.
- Install it, using the file name you downloaded (the download page shows the full command):
sudo dnf install ~/Downloads/<file name>.rpm
If you added exclude=synergy
The exclude also blocks Synergy 3 updates, so remove it:
- Open
/etc/dnf/dnf.confas root, for example withsudo nano /etc/dnf/dnf.conf. - Delete the line
exclude=synergyunder[main]. - Save the file.
