If you rely on hotkeys, switch the server computer to Xorg, where hotkeys work in Synergy 1 and Synergy 3: Switch back to Xorg on Ubuntu
Hotkeys on a Wayland server depend on the very latest Wayland libraries, which are usually only in rolling distros such as Arch Linux. On most other distros they don't work yet, even when the rest of Synergy 1 or Synergy 3 does. This includes the lock cursor hotkey and hotkeys that switch between computers.
Synergy 1
Update to the latest Synergy 1 from the download page. From v1.21.2, Synergy 1 supports hotkeys on a Wayland server through your desktop's global shortcuts portal, when your distro's package was built with libraries new enough to have it. Your desktop may ask you to allow the shortcuts when the server starts; allow them, or the hotkeys won't work.
The Synergy 1 Flatpak doesn't support hotkeys on Wayland, so install the package for your distro instead. If hotkeys still don't work, switch the server computer to Xorg.
Synergy 3
To use hotkeys in Synergy 3, switch the server computer to Xorg. Synergy 3 (v3.7.2) doesn't support hotkeys on a Wayland server yet, on any distro.
