Written for Synergy 3 (v3.7.2) and Synergy 1 (v1.21.4), checked 4 October 2026.
We work hard to make sure Synergy 1 and Synergy 3 work on the latest operating systems, but we understand that many of our users still have legacy hardware that they need to use.
There are also some hardware requirements for Synergy 1 and Synergy 3:
- An Ethernet or Wi-Fi network connection where both computers can see each other.
- Each computer must have its own screen or screens (there is no video sharing feature).
For business and enterprise customers, we support every operating system its vendor still supports, paid extended support included; see Extended support for business customers, below.
For personal and non-commercial customers, we support every operating system in its vendor's standard support, long-term support included. If the current version doesn't run on yours, you can ask us to build it. Using an older system? See Legacy operating systems, below.
Synergy 3
Windows
- Windows 11 (x64)
Synergy 3 has no build for Windows on Arm. Synergy 1 does.
macOS
- macOS 27 Golden Gate
- macOS 26 Tahoe
- macOS 15 Sequoia
Synergy 3 runs on Apple silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs. macOS 27 runs on Apple silicon only, so on an Intel Mac the latest supported version is macOS 26.
Linux
- Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (x86_64)
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (x86_64)
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (x86_64), X11 only
- Debian 13 (x86_64)
- Debian 12 (x86_64): version 3.6.3, and the current version on request
- Fedora 44 (x86_64)
- Fedora 43 (x86_64)
- Arch Linux (x86_64)
- Raspberry Pi OS (arm64)
For other distributions, and for arm64 computers other than a Raspberry Pi, use the Synergy 3 Flatpak (x86_64 and arm64). Wayland support in Synergy 3 is experimental. For details, see: Wayland support on Linux
Synergy 1

Which Linux package to download
On the Synergy download page, pick the section named after your Linux distribution, then the release you run. If your distribution isn't listed, or you're not sure, use Other Linux, which is the Flatpak and works on most distributions.
The package format follows the distribution: .deb for Ubuntu, Debian and Raspberry Pi OS, .rpm for Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux and openSUSE, and .pkg.tar.zst for Arch Linux and Manjaro. Synergy 3 has no package for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, openSUSE or Manjaro, so on those use Other Linux.
Many distributions are built on one of those above: Linux Mint, Pop!_OS and Zorin OS on Ubuntu, for example. Use the package for the distribution and release yours is based on; your distribution's website, or DistroWatch, says which that is. For Synergy 1, AlmaLinux and CentOS Stream use the RHEL package on business downloads, or the Rocky Linux package on personal ones. If none fits, use Other Linux.

Extended support for business customers
For business and enterprise customers, we support every system still in its vendor's paid extended support, such as Windows Extended Security Updates, Red Hat Extended Life Cycle Support, Ubuntu Pro or Debian Extended LTS.
On Synergy Business Advanced and Synergy Enterprise, custom LTS and legacy operating system support is part of your plan: when the current version doesn't run on your system, including where a cell below says None, we build it for you. On Synergy Business Essential, use the newest version below, or move to Advanced: Synergy Business
To ask for a build: Contact our business team

Legacy operating systems
These systems are past the end of their vendor's support, extended support included. Older versions of Synergy 1 and Synergy 3 still run on many of them. Log in to your Synergy account, and the Other versions page lists every version of each product you own: Other versions
For business and enterprise customers who need one of these systems, talk to your account manager: we can consider an exception, such as a build for it or a fix in an older version. If you don't know who your account manager is: Contact our business team
For personal and non-commercial customers, older versions come as they were released, without the fixes made since.

Operating systems from 1995 to 2006
Synergy Vintage, our founder's hobby project, keeps the original Synergy alive, from its 2001 source code on, for systems such as Windows 98 and XP and Mac OS X Tiger. It's separate from Synergy 1 and Synergy 3, and its page says which download works on which system: Synergy Vintage
